What is Capoeira?
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that blends Martial-Arts, acrobatics, and music. Capoeira consists of ginga (foundational footwork), powerful kicks, esquivas (dodges), basic acrobatics, and fluid movements while accompanied by traditional instruments and songs. Capoeira is more than just physical training making it a dynamic and fun way to stay active, improve fitness, and connect with a supportive community.
Today, Capoeira is practiced worldwide as a celebration of culture, community, and strength. It teaches not only physical skills like agility and coordination but also values of respect, expression, and connection.
Our structured sessions are designed to improve coordination, balance, flexibility, and body control, while helping you build confidence, strength, and fluidity in your movements.
No experience needed — all levels are welcome!
Capoeira Brasil:
Capoeira Brasil is one of the most recognized capoeira organizations in the world. It was founded in 1989 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by three Mestres: Mestre Paulão Ceara, Mestre Boneco, and Mestre Paulinho Sabiá. Their mission was to preserve and spread capoeira through training, teaching, and cultural exchange, building a community rooted in tradition while welcoming innovation.
Capoeira Brasil primarily practices Capoeira Regional Contemporânea. This style is a modern evolution of Capoeira Regional, blending elements of traditional Capoeira Angola and the faster, more upright Capoeira Regional style. It emphasizes strong technique, acrobatics, and expression, while maintaining respect for Capoeira’s roots, rituals, and music.
Capoeira Program:
Every class you’ll begin with a warm-up and then move into foundational or advanced techniques. As you train, you’ll develop full-body strength, flexibility, balance, rhythm, and mind-body connection. Each movement also helps your nervous system adapt, improving focus, creativity, and long-term cognitive health while immersing you in the richness of Brazilian culture! We meet you at your level and guide you every step of the way, helping you build these tools in a fun, cultural, and energizing environment.
At the center of Capoeira is the Roda - a circle formed by players, musicians, and singers. Inside this circle, two people engage in a playful, expressive exchange of kicks, escapes, and movement. The roda creates a space for community, creativity, respect, and tradition. It’s where students practice not just technique, but communication, awareness, and presence.
